The death of Jesus on the cross was not like any other death but it is a very important event in the life of Christianity. As a Christian, What does good Friday signify in your life?
Whenever you don’t take some things on a personal level, they will continue to be meaningless to you.
“Mathew 27:27-53“, The soldiers presented Jesus before the Praetorium, put a crown of thorns on His head and took Him to Golgotha to be crucified. They cast lots for His garments and the accusation that was put over His head was that “He was the King of the Jews.” While on the cross He was blasphemed by many even the robber who was crucified with Him. After crying out to the Father, Jesus yielded up His spirit. When this happened the veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom and the graves of the saints were opened and they came out.
The death of Jesus wasn’t meaningless; it presented several things to us;
1. Jesus who was sinless was brought before the court for the judgment and was sentenced to death by crucifixion. He bore every one of our sins and judgement to the cross.
2. Jesus redeemed us from every curse; that of the law and our origin.
Galatians 3:13, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”)”
Romans 8:1, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”
3. When the veil tore into two (Mathew 27:51), we received open access to the Father. You don’t need anyone to go to God for you because Jesus opened up to all of us free access to God.
4. All our sin was counted unto Jesus and He gave us His righteousness in return.
5. Jesus became condemned so that we might receive forgiveness.
When we accepted Jesus into our lives we were ushered into his forgiveness.
Do you believe in this forgiveness; have you embraced it in your life? The voice of the Holy Spirit doesn’t condemn but convicts you so that you can walk the life God desires of you. The condemning is not of God.
John 16:8, “And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:”
Whenever continually refuse to listen to the conviction of the Holy Spirit, He stops speaking to you.
Leaving our sinful lives and walking in righteousness is repentance.
You must believe in Jesus’ forgiveness to you.
When you are faced with battles, don’t fight as one who is overcome but as one for who Jesus already won the victory.
6. The blood of Jesus was the last offering given to man. Jesus’ blood takes away all sin and when God looks at us He sees the blood of His son and not our sin anymore.
In the old testament yearly, lamb sacrifices were made because the blood of these lambs only covered sin but didn’t take it away. However, the blood of Jesus completely takes away our sin and it has the power to overcome every evil against us.
Isaiah 53:3-5, “He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”
7. The stripes and rejection Jesus received presented to our healing and perfection in God and we get to be dressed with God’s glory.
A person who is rejected never prospers, is always despised and is prone to false accusations and being bewitched. Jesus understood all these dangers of being rejected so He chose to bear all our rejection and in return, He gave us His favour.
The favour Jesus dresses us with is not only for before men but also before God.
8. Jesus presented to us the opportunity of everlasting life. On the third day, Jesus overcame death the weapon which the devil used most against man.
One of the things Jesus taught his disciples is Prayer because He understood its importance and He cautioned them when he found them asleep during the time of prayer in Mathew 27:40-45.
Prayer is a very important part of every believer’s life; it is personal. It is a point where we meet God.
We must yearn to learn to pray for ourselves so that we aren’t manipulated by anyone.
You need the life of prayer for;
. It’s the Bridge to meet your needs
. Your Strength in God is manifested in prayer.
.It’s the language that connects you with God.
. Victory comes from prayer filled with faith. Praying in fear hinders victory.
