Job 33:15, the bible defines a dream as a vision of the night.
Dreams can be good or bad (nightmares). The spiritual realm reveals itself through dreams and these dreams are a guide of what will happen in the physical realm. Our focus in this message is on dreams that come in the form of nightmares. A nightmare is a terrifying dream in which the dreamer experiences feelings of helplessness, extreme anxiety, and sorrow. Job 7:13-14Repetitive nightmares usually point to the existence of demonic powers over one’s life. Nightmares come with pain and demonic/evil powers that fulfil the devil’s plans.
Dreams are spiritual and they reveal something before it happens in the physical realm. As a Christian, it’s important to closely watch and follow the spiritual realm. Every person’s life is made up of three important things; the body, spirit and soul. (The soul connects the spirit and body). The spirit is where God’s dominion over man starts but it’s also a place the devil desires to control. The soul harbours a person’s intellect, desires and thoughts. The soul shares its ideas into the spirit where they are meditated upon. It is much easier to overcome thoughts rather than meditations that are in the spirit. (Psalms 1)In the process of dreams, God speaks to our spirits which are a part of the spiritual world. Most of the battles that we fight come from the dreams we have experienced that manifest in the form of nightmares. These nightmares can link a person to death, sicknesses, and misery.
Why does God speak to us through dreams
To open our eyes to spiritual warfare.Job 33:14-17Most of the time we take dreams for granted yet something is being communicated. Some dreams come as a warning to us from God. While asleep the flesh is subdued and the spirit man can be able to see what is in the spiritual realm.Before you can be delivered, God first opens your eyes to things hindering and afflicting you. Nightmares come as revelations from God to understand the devil’s plans.
Whenever God gives you a dream, He gives you the power as well to destroy whatever the devil had planned for your life. Mathew 16:18 ” _And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”_ Luke:10.19 _”Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”_ Mathew 2:13-19, God sent his angel in a dream to warn Joseph of the danger that was yet to come upon baby Jesus and what he would do to save him.
Joseph having full knowledge of the spiritual world accepted to do as God directed him in the dream. Whenever we fail to heed to God’s message through dreams we are bound to fall into the hands of the devil. Example of Nightmare DreamsAlways dreaming when you are;
1. Primary school/ Village home.
2. Naked
3. Animals chasing you.
4. Held back at roadblocks.
5. When you can’t find your way.
6. You are being strangled.
These dreams are indicators that there are demonic forces that are working and influencing your life. Whenever you fail to destroy the evil powers behind these nightmares and their purpose, some of the following will be evident in your life;
1. Constant loss of jobs.
2. Constant sicknesses
3. Constant losses
4. Hard to excel in life.
