The character of the new man or a transformed man is to have traits that are different from the old one (unchanged man). The character of the new or transformed man entirely feeds on the spirit while the old man lives entirely on the flesh.
As long as Christians lack the word of God and His traits in them, the devil will never fear them no matter how long they take in prayer because the word of God and His character in them is what terrifies the devil.
It’s very important for every Christian to know that the devil will always want to keep us in the old character/nature so that he may establish his works in our thoughts and thereafter become the master of our lives. The character of the old nature always catalyzes the nature of the devil to manifest through our words and actions i.e quarrelling, speaking deceit, hatred among others.
Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
Brethren, your perfection in Jesus Christ manifests through the people around you, the way you love them and your actions towards them. The devil does not fear one who is rich or wealthy but one who is rich in the word of God. Yes, you can become rich but failure to be rich in the word of God, the wealth will be taken away because you have no power to sustain it.
Our perfection in Christ is in love and being rich in understanding the word of God.
Brethren, we are in days where the devil does not want us to be rich in the word of Christ, but to be rich in words which worry, the knowledge of worldly things which do not benefit us yet poor in the word of God. It is only he or she who is rich in the word of God, with the character of the new man, who has the life of God, who can overcome the devil.
Whenever we meet with brethren, we should make it our aim to always encourage ourselves in the Lord and not to spend our time speaking about things that don’t build us spiritually.
The way we dress also should reflect the character of the new man, Jesus Christ in our lives.
We ought to make it our aim to walk according to the ways of God, manifesting and revealing God through loving God and the people around us. (1John 4:7-8)
2 Corinthians 5:17,17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
The above scripture says that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. It is possible for you to be in Christ Jesus yet He is not in you. Why? This is because there are places he does not operate in especially when you’re still living in the old character.
Child of God, it takes you to die unto the world that you may walk the walk of salvation. It takes you to know that you came to Christ Jesus which drives you to walk in the character of the new man and rejoicing in the newness of life.
Christians are many but those who walk the way of salvation are few. People are bearing the old man or character (not transformed)
The change or the transformation that God requires starts from when we are alive. Grace abounds for us when we are still alive. The grace is not for the dead but for one who is alive.
Brethren, accept to walk in the new life in Christ Jesus. Choose to put the old man and his character daily and allow the new man and His character to become your life, that you may glorify God in your words, actions being perfected in Jesus Christ that people may see God in your life.
Note; Salvation is not just a matter of words but walking in the ways of God. The character of the devil in you is an open door for the devil to penetrate your life.
